Dr. Kathleen Weidner, Au.D., Director of Hearing Health Care Center
Dr. Kathleen Weidner, Au.D., Director of Audiology, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, ASHA Doctor of Audiology, and state licensed dispensing audiologist who has been practicing audiology for over 15 years.
Dr. Weidner earned her Master of Science degree in Audiology from the University of New Mexico in 1996 and was awarded her Doctoral degree in Clinical Audiology in 2005 from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, a department of Arizona University of Health Sciences. She previously received a Bachelor Degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of New Mexico.
As the Director of Audiology, Dr. Weidner instills her team with the philosophy that the patient comes first. "Our patients are the reason we are here. We need to care for our patients with the utmost respect, professionalism and, above all, we need to be empathetic to the situations our patients face. "
As to why Dr. Weidner chose audiology as her career, she finds audiology to be a rewarding field. "It is inspiring to watch a patient evolve as they reconnect with family and community. Their confidence and their quality of life and work also continue to improve during rehabilitation of their hearing loss." She also enjoys the opportunity to train and mentor students as they become future leaders in the field of audiology. She finds the role of mentor to be symbiotic – she learns as much from the students' fresh perspectives as they learn from her experience.
As a part of Southwestern Ear, Nose & Throat, Dr. Weidner enjoys the comprehensive team approach as she works with like-minded physicians committed to serve northern New Mexico with accountability, integrity and respect for all of our patients.
Dr. Weidner is a native New Mexican currently living in Albuquerque. She enjoys spending time with her two grandchildren, swimming and water volleyball, as well as gardening.
Dr. Lisa Pulsipher, Au.D.,
Lisa Pulsipher, Au.D. is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. She is certified by ASHA and the American Board of Audiology, and is a New Mexico state licensed dispensing audiologist. She earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from University of Northern Colorado in Greeley where she also earned a Bachelor Degree in Audiology and Speech-Language Sciences in 2007.
Dr. Pulsipher is experienced working with patients in corporate audiology practice as well as medical clinic settings. She is proficient in American Sign Language as a result of education and exposure to ASL since childhood.
She recently joined SWENT as a diagnostic audiologist, and is excited to work with an extraordinary team of dedicated and knowledgeable healthcare professionals. She strives to ensure excellent patient care through patient education, empathy, and application of her expertise in diagnosis and treatment of hearing and balance disorders. Dr. Pulsipher is originally from Black Forest, Colorado, and currently resides in Santa Fe. She enjoys playing the piano and cello, camping, snowboarding, and exploring Santa Fe and Albuquerque with her preschool-age son.
Jennifer Sandoval has been working with Southwestern Ear, Nose & Throat (SWENT) for more than seven (7) years. She started as the Audiology Coordinator, but since has graduated from Nova Southeastern University in Florida (May, 2008) as an Audiologist’s Assistant in Amplification.
Many patients of the Hearing and Balance Center at SWENT know Jennifer and rely on her support and service for ALL things related to hearing aids. She prides herself on treating patients with the utmost respect, dignity and kindness that all deserve.
Jennifer enjoys meeting and working with new people every day. She gets satisfaction from making a positive difference in the lives of our patients and their families. She states that "seeing the look on an individual’s face after they have been taken care of is such a rewarding experience."
As to why Jennifer works at SWENT, she believes working here is like working with a family. Everyone is always there for each other. She also is very appreciative of the opportunities she has been given to learn and grow in audiology.
Jennifer is a native New Mexican, married 27 years with three children and two grandchildren. She keeps herself busy cooking for friends and family, as well as listening to music.
Arlene Alderete joined Southwestern Ear Nose and Throat (SWENT) in April of 2011. Previously she worked in a Private K-12 school for 13 years as both a teacher and business manager until the school had to close. She is currently taking courses to obtain a Business Degree.
Arlene enjoys working at SWENT because it is a new and challenging field. She values the knowledge she has acquired while working as an Audiology Customer Service staff member. She especially takes pleasure in helping patients in any way she can.
Arlene moved to New Mexico from Utah in 1983 and loves it. She has been married 25 years and has 3 children and 2 granddaughters. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, cooking, working with computers and watching her kids play in sports.

Katie joined SWENT in May of 2012 as a graduate student. She was awarded her Doctor of Audiology degree in May, 2013 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Iowa. Katie’s favorite part about audiology is working with different personalities and helping to make a positive difference in the lives of others. She understands the importance of communication and strives to maintain high standards of integrity, respect, and quality of care when working with patients and their families.
Katie grew up in Palatine, Illinois (a northern suburb of Chicago) and is having a wonderful time in Santa Fe. She enjoys hiking and other outdoor activities, watching movies, spending time with family and friends, and participating in anything athletic (she was a collegiate gymnast and competed for the University of Iowa for four years).
Melanie Gallegos joined Southwestern Ear, Nose and Throat in January 2013 as part of the Audiology Administrative staff. She graduated from New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, NM with her bachelor degree in Business Administration.
Melanie previously worked as the Tax Department Lead for a wholly owned subsidiary of a Fortune 500 company in the cigarette and tobacco industry. She gained an extensive amount of business experience in the 12 years she was with the company. In 2011 she received a prestigious corporate wide leadership award which recognizes employees within the three operating companies for exceeding expectations to help achieve corporate goals. Although only being part of the SWENT family for a short time, Melanie is very much enjoying her new position. She is very pleased to work with such a great team of co-workers in providing superior patient care. She looks forward to a successful, enlightening future with SWENT.
Melanie was born in Southern California, but has been in New Mexico for over 20 years now and is happy to call it home. She enjoys spending time with her family and is very active in her children’s many extracurricular activities.
Hearing Instrument Specialist
Maureen Coleman Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in from Viterbo College, LaCrosse, WI in1978. She became fluent in American Sign Language, studying at the prestigious Gallaudet College for the Deaf in Washington DC, during her early nursing practice.
She became certified as a Sign Language Interpreter while working in the deaf community, but seeking a larger role in primary care, Maureen returned for a Doctorate in Chiropractic, completing study in 1989, at University of Western States in Portland, OR. Maureen pursued Advanced Practice – Chiropractic Certification in 2011, through National University of Health Sciences, adding diverse, holistic skills to her services.
In 2012, while in private practice, she began conducting neural rehabilitation on patients with hearing loss in a pilot project with the Audiology department of SWENT. Interested in hearing and technology, as well as the brain, head & neck in patient health, Maureen accepted the opportunity to join the Audiology department at SWENT, training in Hearing Instrument Science, She brings her zest for helping people and rehabilitation to the Audiology department of SWENT.
Danielle K. Morgan is a doctoral student in audiology at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and will join SWENT in late May 2013 to complete her degree. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in psychology from Saint Xavier University in Chicago, Illinois. Danielle has had clinical experiences at other ENT practices and major medical centers around Massachusetts, with a strong interest in pediatrics. Danielle enjoys working with individuals of all ages and strives to help patients access the services they need in order to reach their fullest potential and improve their quality of life. She believes it is important to understand each patient’s unique needs in order to truly serve them in the best way possible. Danielle is looking forward to working with Santa Fe’s diverse community and is excited to learn from all of the professionals at SWENT.
Danielle loves to stay active and enjoys hiking and practicing yoga when she is not busy in the clinic. She also enjoys travelling and appreciates any opportunity she has to visit and learn about a new place. Danielle is excited to take advantage of all Santa Fe has to offer during her year at SWENT.
Brett Adams is a fourth-year graduate student from the University of Utah. He joined SWENT in May of 2013 to complete his doctoral degree in audiology. Brett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology from Ithaca College, with a minor in Deaf Studies. Throughout his academic career, Brett has worked in a number of clinical settings, including ENT practices, school districts, and hearing & balance clinics.
Brett considers it a privilege to work alongside dedicated healthcare professionals who share the upmost standards of patient care. Brett values the importance of communication and seeks to improve patients’ functional quality of life through diligence and compassion. His professional aim is to help and serve those with hearing loss and balance deficits through any capacity available. Brett enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring the diverse opportunities and experiences that Santa Fe has to offer.
